Why Functional Materials?

When we exercise the bo​dy burns large amounts of energy. This energy turns to heat and in order for the body not to overheat the temperature must be regulated. The body solves this through sweating. What cools us is not actually the perspiration itself but when it evaporates.

Moisture conducts heat 23 times faster than air and therefore cools the body as soon as the skin has a thin layer of perspiration which can evaporate. Clothing can help in this process. The cooling of the body is important for performance, if we become too hot our ability to perform can be reduced.

Functional fabrics transport perspiration away from the skin and breathability is one of the determining factors in the comfort level of garments. The function of these fabrics depends upon nature's desire for balance. The perspiration that the body produces during physical activity is evaporated by the body's heat. Vapour always strives for a more dry or cold climate, generally out through the fabric.

Active wear clothing should dry quickly, smell as little as possible and maintain their shape after many washes, something that synthetic fabrics can do. Synthetic fabrics bind moisture between the fibres and not inside as natural materials do and at the same time they stretch in all directions.

Polyamide over Polyester

We carefully select the fibers used based on function and performance. We have made the choice to use polyamide instead of polyester as much as possible. It’s softer and more gentle to the skin and made from smooth fibers, making it difficult for bacteria to evolve. This, in its turn, allows us to completely skip anti-bacterial treatments, that can be harmful to human health and the environment.

  • Polyamide can be dyed more ecofriendly than polyester
  • Polyamide has better moisture properties and evaporation skills than polyester
  • Polyamide doesn’t peel as easily as polyester
  • Polyamide allows a smoother and softer finish on the garment than polyester
  • Polyamide doesn’t allow bacteria to grow in the garment and create a constant smell of sweat
  • Polyamide fibers are more easily enlarged which makes the fibers very elastic for a better fit.

High-tech and innovative fabric and construction, produced with 100% renewable energy in Italy. High Lycra content, four-way stretch, guarantees controlled compression. Oeko-Tex® certified fabric.

Tencel®

Light weight fluid environmental friendly fabric. Made with wood pulp from sustainable tree farms. 100% Biodegradable. Oeko-Tex® certificate. Made in Turkey.

Biopolyamide

Highly innovative biopolyamide fabric. Biopolyamide is based on castor oil made from the castor oil plant. The oil is harmless, even applicable to the skin, but also strong enough to form the raw material of the advanced fabric biopolyamide. The production process of it has some environmentally superior characteristics. The process uses less water, lower temperatures and
generates less CO2 than similar materials. It even uses 20 % less dyestuff when dying the fabric.

Also, on the user end, there are benefits that matter in training. The fabric has a comfortable texture, dries faster than common polyamide and doesn´t bind bacteria, making it more naturally odour free.


But the perhaps most interesting advantage is the fact that the castor oil plant is not part of any food chain, so the use of the plant does not disturb the natural cycle. Respecting the origin of the raw material and the natural cycle is a new level of eco-friendliness – beyond looking only at the production process.

Casall Quality 821

This is a fabric that we use in many of our training tops. It is an extra soft and stretchy fabric providing both functional comfort and drape. Excellent wicking and moisture management properties.

Casall Quality 881

A Functional quality that we use in many of our training tights. A high Elastane share offers great elasticity and excellent freedom of movement. A lustrous surface with a soft touch and excellent moisture management distinguish the fabric.The fabric is manufactured in Europe.
