Amanda Piekert

Cycling Stockholm

Hi! My name is Amanda Piekert and I am a 25 years old nutritionist living in Stockholm, Sweden. My days are first and foremost spent at The Karolinska Institute studying for a bachelor degree in science of nutrition, I believe that the things you put in your body is affecting you more than many could imagine and I would like to do more research in the future on how we can prevent illnesses with food. The time I don’t spend in school I spend at the gym, either working out myself or working as an cycling instructor, which is something I absolutely love!

What drives you?

To be able to share my joy and inspire others to work out and eat good foods to fuel your body is one of my big passions in life. The positive feedback I get from people after a class, social media, friends and family is amazing and keeps me going.

What's next in training?

The last couple of years’ weight lifting has been very popular and although I think that will stay I believe that very specific training will become larger in Sweden than it is today. For example, Pilates in machines, jumps on small one-man trampolines and indoor cycling. I’m very grateful to be a part of that last one, soul cycling meets Stockholm and created Urban Ride+ which is several different movements (I’d like to call them dance moves!) and the use of dumbbells whilst you’re on your bike. You’ll have to try it!

What makes you happy?

I have a great deal that makes me happy and could turn a bad day to a good one. This is only a few of my favorites: my puppy, a tough work-out, fairy lights, yoga, ice-cream, traveling, cycling, boyfriend, sushi etc.

How do you create balance in your life?

I believe in a balanced diet where you choose nutritious foods but never punish yourself for a sweet treat occasionally. And were you work out to be stronger and healthier not to fit a certain image portrayed by society. It took me years to get here and it can still be a struggle. Remember these two quotes ‘Healthy looks different on every body’ and ‘one size never fits all’.

What’s one piece of kit you could not live without?

You can never go wrong with rubber bands. You can bring them with you even if you travel light and you can create a killer workout that make your muscles burn!

What are your goals for the future?

My number one priority is to get my exam this upcoming summer. After that I hope to be able to arrange more work outs, workshops and lectures where likeminded spirits can meet and connect. Together we can inspire each other and change the world!

Who inspires you and why?

One person who inspires me to continue to live a balanced lifestyle is Hannah Andersson, more known as Fashionablefit. She has an incredibly kind heart and a great outlook on life. This spring my motivation was down to zero and I didn’t know how I would ever get back to good habits. But after one of her bootcamp I was more motivated than ever to work-out to get a strong and healthy body.
