Alexander Bica

Wrestling Sweden

My name is Alexander Bica, 21 years old and a Swedish and Nordic Champion in Greco-Roman Wrestling. I’ve been a part of the national team since 2014 and been competing at the European and World Championships with the best placement on 7th place at European Championships. My life is wrestling, my club is my second home and the gym is my third.

"My goal is to become a world champion, best in the world. 2024 I want to wrestle at the Olympics."

Besides my athlete career I’m also the founder and CEO of Sweden’s first athlete-sponsorship platform, EliteSpons. My goal is to help athletes reach their goals by finding future sponsors digitally, easier than ever.

What does Forever Better mean to you?

For me, forever better means to always trying to improve. Always be hungry to develop and grow as an athlete, but also as a person. Seek things outside your comfort zone and don’t be afraid to do something that has never been done. Forever better!

How does your training routine look like?

My training routine is based on where in the season I am. When its competing season then I focus a lot on explosive workouts and also important, lactic acid workouts. If its pre/season then I focus on building strength and endurance. Long and hard workouts around 1,5 / 2 hours. Around 8/12 trainings per week.

What are your goals for the future?

My goals are to become a world champion and wrestle at the Olympic Games 2024. 2018 I was undefeated in Sweden, I’m aiming at the same results this year, 2019. This is my goals medal wise, for me it’s important to be a role model for people around me and inspire to believe in themselves. This is a great way of doing that, by being a part of the SWAT team.

What’s one piece of kit you could not live without?

Foam roller! Always before and after training. I’m obsessed.

Why is Rest and Recovery important to your performance?

It’s extremely important for me. Wrestling is a hard sport that puts your body in tough conditions and this requires the right recovery. Your body get exhausted and to keep in shape and be able to perform at my best I value my recovery high.
