Floris Bass

PT Barcelona

My name is Floris Baas and I’m a 28 yearr old guy from Holland! I lived there for most of my life and practiced a lot of sport. Hockey, tennis, golf at a young age and started throwing around weights without any knowledge when I was 17. Then kickboxing took over until I met the guys of Rockstar Lifestyle in Amsterdam. They taught me more in 5 months then I learned myself in 10 years! Now I have been living in Barcelona for the past 3 years, and had the luck and balls to start Rockstar Lifestyle here. An Amsterdam and Barcelona basted training company. We guide and motivated people to become physically and mentally stronger, more fit and faster. We do so by training, educating and empowering our clients through carefully designed strength and conditioning program, personal nutrition plans and 24/7 guidance.

What drives you?

My every day motivation comes from progression. This could be work related but also progression that I make with clients or myself. Success gives you a certain boost, especially when you can share your success with others.

When I talk about success I’m not talking about money, but about feeling energetic, self-confident and that you have the feeling you can conquer the world.

What’s next in training?

Being a good athlete is one thing, but to be actually fully in control of your body is something completely different. This year I want to focus more on body movement, functional training and calisthenics. There is a guy I follow, Roye Gold, and it’s fascinating to watch him move. I think the first main goal would be to master the handstand, and I think that’s already going to take a long time!

What makes you happy?

Happiness makes happiness! I try to surround myself with positive people and to get as much negativity out of my way. It’s such a waste of your time to waste energy on doing things you don't like or spending time with people who you not feel comfortable with. Luckily I don’t have this very often, but if is happens: cut if off!

All positive things that happen around me or with me have a positive influence on my life which makes happy!

How do you create balance in your life?

I need a certain rhythm, especially regarding training. I loose my focus and energy if I get out of that rhythm. I’m not talking about 6 days a week 2 hours a day, but enough for me to make progression and to feel good about myself. For me at the moment that is about 4 times a week, max 1 or 1,5 hour a time. Besides that NUTRITION!! It’s so important and it’s my fuel for happiness.

If I have these 2 things in order, I fly through life.

What’s one piece of kit you could not live without?

A kettle bell! I wish I could always bring one in my suitcase when I travel. It’s such an all round training tool and you can loose your mind in the variety of exercises you can do with it.

What are your goals for the future?

In 2018 I would love to open the first Rockstar Institute in Barcelona. An educational training center which goes way beyond training. It should be a place where people can personally grow but also help others to grow. A place that when you enter you don’t have the feeling walking into a gym, but a warm peaceful place where you can interact, share ideas, inspire / get inspired, eat nutritious food and of course where you can train your ass off.

In February I’m going to Cape Town, first of all to enjoy, but also definitely with an eye for business. It would be a dream to live between Cape Town, Barcelona and Amsterdam.

Who inspires you and why?

The owners of Rockstar Lifestyle in Amsterdam! They gave me the opportunity to start Rockstar in Barcelona. I love what I do and that sounds super cliché, but it’s the truth. I have learned so much in the past 3 years, made 3 million mistakes, but it gives me energy to keep going. Also don’t forget that work is not everything, even if you love doing it. Enjoy life, travel, learn, love, laugh and experience!
