Helena Wilde

Yoga Bergen

My name is Helena Wilde, I'm a 30 yr old woman from Bergen, Norway. I used to work as a TV and Film director before getting a bad chronic nerve injury 7 years ago. I have always been very active growing up but the pain I was in had made my life too hard for me to be able to move. I started researching yoga as a last resort for my health and my life 19 months ago. Not only did I discover, if not a cure at least a very strong tool for recovery, I also got a whole new perspective on movement for mental and physical Health. Ii got my first teacher training in November 2016 and finished my second in April this year. Now, I wish to help and to inspire others. To help others out of an horrible situation or just to help them to never end up in one. I wish to do this through all kinds of movement and mindfulness practices, both in person and through social media.

What drives you?

Mental and physical health, kindness, innovation, curiousity and education.

What’s next in training?

I believe the next in training is going to be - or at least SHOULD be - an holistic approach. Not just yoga but also weight lifting, not just weight lifting but also swimming etc. With this too comes the mental health as just as an important focus as the physical body. Understanding that mind and body works in a fragile symbiosis so we cannot care for the one without thinking about the other.

What makes you happy?

My dog, nature, freediving, yoga, meditation and MOVEMENT.

How do you create balance in your life?

I have yet to find a steady flow of balance but working hard towards that goal, is definitely getting me closer every day. What is helping me the most is definitely movement (hiking, sweating, freediving and yoga) and meditation.

What’s one piece of kit you could not live without?

My yoga mat.

What are your goals for the future?

To be able to live out my passion in wanting to help other people achieve and easier and healthier life through movement and mindfulness and kindness.

Who inspires you and why?

Ocean Ramsey (@) inspires me with her compassion and passion for freediving and health, Raphael Jesse for his creative and holistic approach to movement, Michelle from @bananablondie108 for her feministic and sensual approach to physical yoga, and Michelle from @michelle_yogogirls also for her strong, dynamic movements.
