What drives you?
Creativity drives every aspect of my life. Whether it is brainstorming sequences for a yoga class, planning retreats, collaborating with musicians or physically making art - I have made the commitment to myself to life from the inside out, tapping into the rhythm of the heart that moves my body first, and mind second. A commitment each day to live fully alive and passionately on purpose.
What's next in training?
Ohhh there are always so many things that interest me across many different disciplines ~ a constant thirst to acquire more skills and learn more about this incredible vehicle of experience, our body, and our home, our planet. This year I will be diving deeper into my training of Zen Thai Shiatsu bodywork, learning more about Ayurvedic cooking, facilitating kirtan and playing the harmonium, African dance and drumming, studying with some renowned tantric meditation teachers and deepening my knowledge of stoneware ceramics… just to name a few.
What makes you happy?
The things that light me up from my core are: Yoga, DANCING, moving my body with complete freedom and feeling joy in every cell. Making art for art's sake and marveling in the mystery of inspiration when the finished result reveals itself to me. Immersing myself in nature and in turn realising the flow of nature inside myself - that breath, blood, muscles and bone are of the earth; they are the air, rivers, animals and minerals inside, not separate to, but the same. I love music and film and art and anything that ignites a spark deep down that urges me to receive and simultaneously contribute to this fairytale of an existence.
But my greatest passion? To share these learnings and life lessons with all who I am lucky enough to encounter along the way.
How do you create balance in your life?
I aim to create balance by practicing what I preach. By reminding myself every day why I’m on this path of spreading health and cultivating happiness through yoga and following the creative current. Every day I aim to get on my mat, to sit in meditation and to immerse in nature, to veer out of the fast lane of ‘doing’ and to slide into the slow river of just ‘being’. I believe this is the biggest gift we can give ourselves in this modern era of Olympic levels of stress and distraction.
What’s one piece of kit you could not live without?
Perfectly fitting yoga tights. It’s just the most satisfying feeling to be free to move and dance and sway without any inhibition or restriction.
What are your goals for the future?
To keep following my bliss and sharing the gifts that are mine alone to give. To continue learning from every new encounter and continuing to hold safe space to empower transformation for others.
Who inspires you and why?
I have had very powerful female role models in my life - my maternal grandmother is a fearless warrioress, with tools sharpened from migrating to Australia from post-Holocaust Poland. And my mother who has lived many lives, with open-hearted, open-eyed awe for the divine everyday. It’s to them I thank for imparting the importance of beauty, music, dance and zest for being alive that is intricately bound with my essence.
