My name is Laura Mateu, and I’m an integral psychotherapist, health coach and yoga & mindfulness teacher. I believe that everything that has happened to me in my life has been an opportunity to learn, grow, and become a better version of myself. I feel extremely grateful for discovering yoga 8 years ago since it has helped me go through some of hardest moments in my life, and everyday it teaches me lessons and brings me closer to my truest self.

What drives you? 

I’m driven by love, love for oneself, love for one other, love for what I do, and love for LIFE.

I believe that to connect with your personal driving force, it’s essential to dive deep into self-discovery so that you can know yourself inside-out; meaning, what makes you who you are and why. For me one of the greatest acts of courage is to be and own all that you are.

What’s next in training? 

One of my greatest motivations is to constantly learn and becoming a better version of myself, in yoga and in life. Actually I believe one is a mirror of the other.

Among others training, I think the next in line is Dharma Mittra’s teacher training.

What makes you happy?

Nourishing my soul makes me happy. Whether it is yoga, sports, the beach, traveling, being surrounded by the people I love, uplifting others… it all fills me up with joy and good vibes.

How do you create balance in your life? 

Creating balance in my life involves focusing on a holistic approach to health and wellbeing that integrates body, mind, and spirit. For me, yoga is exactly this: a physical, mental and spiritual journey that brings me closer to my authentic self.

What’s one piece of kit you could not live without?

I could not live without my yoga mat. Every day I roll out my mat, maybe just to sit down and breathe, meditate, do some salutations, or flow. Whatever it is, I think the most important things is to show up, roll out your mat – and from there, life will unfold.

What are your goals for the future? 

My goal for the future is to continue to be inspired and empowered to live the life I desire, one that is aligned with my core values and passions.

Both personally and professionally, I want to focus my life on health and wellbeing, through yoga, sports, meditation, psychotherapy/coaching, nutrition… I believe the key resides in adopting a holistic approach that integrates every aspect of the self.

Who inspires you and why?

My mother, who regardless of being diagnosed with metastatic cancer one year ago, is still grateful for life. She vibrated with love, light and life and she’s a constant reminder to smile at life, whatever you are faced with because everything is a teaching. She’s the greatest inspiration for me and the one person who, with her experience, has really showed me how to really live and trust life.
