Niki Lundberg

Yoga Melbourne

Niki was born and raised in Sweden but moved to Thailand a couple of years ago and has been living abroad since then. She found yoga during a quite stressful time of her life and fell in love with the way breathing and moving on the mat made her feel. Since that day she has dedicated her life to the practice and teachings of yoga, sharing what she believes can change the world.

What drives you?

I’m driven by the feeling of being in my body and landing in my heart. When I connect with that place everything I might fear, doubt or be uncertain about fades away. I act from a space that is real, a space that is true. I believe that this is the space most of us lost our connection to and it’s where we need to be to really live life fully. I truly believe the teachings of yoga has the power of touching and awakening this space in others and being a messenger of that is my drive.

What's next in training?

I recently finished a six weeks intense training in India and feel I need to digest that for some time. When I feel ready again I want to deepen my knowledge about sounds and the way we can use it as a tool for healing.

What makes you happy?

Spending time on my mat, being in the sun, swimming in the ocean, walking barefoot, connecting with people, singing, dancing and doing all the things that creates a feeling of being present and a feeling of being free.

How do you create balance in your life?

The practice of yoga has taught me to listen within. If we really listen, our soul and body usually communicate what is needed to stay balanced. Sometimes the body wants to move, sometimes it wants to be still. Sometimes we need a lot of food, sometimes less. Sometimes we can give freely, sometimes we need to receive. With that knowledge I try to act and engage in a way that satisfy my needs and thereby finding balance.

What’s one piece of kit you could not live without?

My yoga mat.

What are your goals for the future?

I dream about a world where there is less separation and more connection and it whatever way I can, I want to cultivate this within myself and in others. What I’ve experienced so far is that when we know what we believe in, somehow things unfold the perfect way and we always end up where we are supposed to be.

Who inspires you and why?

At the moment I’m very inspired by the spiritual teacher Eckart Tolle, I just finished his book “A new earth” and every chapter took me deeper in to myself and my truth.
