KICK IT WITH RICKARD

Rickard Nordstrand has been competing in thai boxing for 17 years. In 2004, he won the World Amateur Thai Boxing Championship in Thailand and received a prize from the King - no Swede has won since. After the victory, Rickard decided to become World Champion among the pros. 5 years later, he was elected WMC World Champion in lightweight at his old stomping grounds in Stockholm. This is a titel that Rickard defended 3 times over before deciding to end his career.

Experience
Throughout the years, Rickard Nordstrand has done everything from winning the World Championship in thai boxing, stunting in the sucess series Game of Thrones, and running his own businesses. As of today, Rickard runs the training facility Kampsportsstadion where he is also an active PT and instructor.

It's about taking risks and believing in yourself. To turn negative thoughts into fuel.

What is your best training tips?

Are you competitive? Set up goals and chase after them. If you just want to get in shape and are not motivated by competition, I would suggest that you find something you find fun. Maybe together with a friend.

Why do you practice martial arts?

I've always been fascinated by boxing and felt trigged by the tension of competing in it. I did start pretty late which I think is one of the reasons behind my success as I really fell in love with thai boxing. To me, it was a lot more than you showing up at games to fight.

Is martial arts for everyone?

I believe that martial arts is the ulitmate way of working out. It's a way to improve your confidence, cardio, flexibility and strength all at once. I've always given it all I got and aim for 100% at every practice. Because if you want to become the best in the world, there is no reason to cheat even just a little.

If you give it all you got, there's nothing to regret.

What is top performance according to you?

To always be prepared and give 100%.

Inside the walls of Stockholms Stadion, you'll find Kampsortstadion.  With 400 square meter space and fantastic trainers, Kampsportstadion offer training for everyone. As a member you can participate in classes, free access to the gym, the running tracks as well as locker rooms and the sauna. Everyone is welcome despite previous expertise.
