What drives you?
To keep showing up for my practise to gain deeper self-knowledge. To have the courage to witness my fears from eye to eye and let go of what does not serve me anymore. To explore and witness the beauty of life and FEEL.
And to create a safe space for others to do the same.
What’s next in training?
Meditation. Learning to be mindful while doing whatever you are doing will bring a new depth for everything in life - be it sports, work, relationships, creative pursues. Only through being present in the moment can we deepen our self-knowledge - which again is the foundation for everything. Through self-knowledge you’ll find a form of training perfect to YOU, to develop strength, mobility and balance - both physically and mentally.
Though I must say, that I recently found something I LOVE: reformer pilates!
What makes you happy?
Doing the things I love.
Moving my body. Spending time in the nature. Hiking up mountains. Skiing down mountains. Dip into the lake or ocean. Walking in a forest. Swimming in the lake or ocean. Golden hour, watching the sunset. Early morning light.
Deep human connections. Creating a conscious business that can help people be healthier. Traveling and witnessing the beauty of the Earth. Fresh and natural food. Music.
These things make me feel alive and happy that I get to exist and experience life. I love knowing that I’ll never be ready- I can keep opening new doors for the rest of my life.
How do you create balance in your life?
By practising yoga and meditation regularly. Being in nature as often as I can. Making sleep a priority. And finding the right balance between being social and recharging.
The most important balance is within my head - to be able to let go of thoughts, behaviour-models, materia, expectations and control is perhaps the most important way for me to create balance.
What’s one piece of kit you could not live without?
My yoga mat. :)
What are your goals for the future?
We run our own company with my business partner Hanna. VIRTA Well-being’s mission is to bring yoga and meditation to as many businesses, schools and sports clubs as possible.
Growing our company aligned with our vision and values is my main professional goal.
Personally, I want to grow along with our company. To not only become a successful business woman, but to be an insightful yoga teacher for my students. My dearest dream is to be a mother one day.
Who inspires you and why?
Inspiration is found in every single person (and all around us), as long as I am mindful in the present moment. I can be inspired by any interaction and moment.
My yoga teacher Tamsin Sheeny in Cape Town inspires me on so many levels. Her knowledge about the human body, mind, soul and collective consciousness is beyond what I can describe. After her class I never seem to not feel incredibly blessed and grateful I’m alive. In fact, Tamsin’s classes were what led to me finally fall in love with yoga and pursue a path as a teacher.
