CORE BALANCE
Monica Øien is the founder and owner of Core Balance. We asked her to give us the background to why she started the studio? "I wanted to create a workout philosophy which is more about joy, community, curiosity, invention, total body strength and no pain or injuries. I have osteoporosis and hate doing regular fitness and weight training, for me its way to boring repeating the same things over and over again. So in order to strengthen my body I needed to start playing around and testing my knowlegde. My background as a Tv Host on the move and Pilates instructor was a great combination to create workouts you can do wherever you are, whenever you want, and which is fun and gives extreme lean and visual results. I started playing around with different excercices, tools, sequences, rhythm, music and the method became a so much harder workout than I had ever done before."
Would you say that this type of training is for everyone? "Yes, it is, for man, woman, athletes, teenagers, seniors… we all get the results we are dreaming of, the strength you need in your daily life and the feeling of joy."
