Gabby Cocca

Barre London

Hey I am Gabby, currently Dance captain on a Westend Musical Show. I started dancing at the age of 4 and still living the dream on that journey. Performing is my life and always will be, but I have also found love in other areas of the health and fitness world. I am a fitness instructor, currently teaching barre classes alongside being a Sports Masseuse. The body is an incredible thing and I am absolutely obsessed with it. I love that fact that you can never stop learning about its weird and wonderful ways. As long as i carry on discovering and living this life, i will always have a happy heart.

What drives you?

There are many elements that help drive me but I think the 2 things that lead the way are Love and Passion. Having a true passion for something is what makes you get up in the morning, it is what pushes you past your limit, it’s what makes you not give up at that last hurdle. Without that love, it would feel more like a chore than a choice.

What’s next in training?

I have recently been introduced to yoga. Along side performing i do a lot of high intensity training classes, such as spin and HIIT classes but after trying yoga I completely fell in love with it. I will definitely be opening up my journey to yoga and look forward to seeing where it takes me.

What makes you happy?

Again there are many things in life that makes me happy. My family and friends take the pedestal here, but what makes me happy is knowing that I have done all i can. Always giving 110%, whether it’s performing on stage, teaching a class, giving a massage or during a workout. True happiness is feeling content and proud and seeing others experiencing the same thing.

How do you create balance in your life?

Balance is so important in so many ways. A couple of years ago I struggled to find balance, I had that mindset of work hard, work hard and work harder. Even on my day off I would make sure I worked out, if not i felt like i had let myself down. However, now I realise how important it is to balance it all out, let your body rest and enjoy it. Enjoy time with your family and friends but that is the most precious time of all. Life is for living, so of course work hard but play hard to.

What’s one piece of kit you could not live without?

My foam roller. We have that love/hate relationship, but I don’t know what I would do without it.

What are your goals for the future?

This questions comes up a lot in the musical theatre world, ‘What’s your dream show?’ 'Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?’… Of course we need goals, but my goal is to be happy. A successful life is a happy life.

Who inspires you and why?

My mother, I know we’re all a little bias but she really is one hell of a women.
