What drives you?
Progression and education. I have a passion for health and fitness and i'm driven by not only my own personal progression, but greatly that of my clients. It's important to set goals, regardless of how big or small and always work towards them.
I'm also driven by the need to further and better educate myself so that I can pass on that knowledge to my clients and those around me. In an industry that often preys on the insecurities of average people, it's important to be able to help them separate the fact from fiction so that they can effectively reach their goals in a safe, fun and effective manner.
What's next in training?
While I find it extremely rewarding to push myself hard during workouts, something that's becoming apparent to me, especially as I get a little older is the need to take care of my body in-between tough workouts with lighter more recuperative exercise like yoga and self-myofascial release.
What makes you happy?
Family and friends, travel, anything with protein, carrot cake, football, sun, sea, travel and uninterrupted workouts.
How do you create balance in your life?
I find that Listening to my body is one of the most important aspects to finding balance in life. Something i've ignored in the past to my own detriment. It's important to understand that exercise is only one part of the equation.
While I always practice consistency when it comes to working out and eating well, I also understand that it's ok to take little breaks, to eat a piece of carrot cake every now and again or to not give 100% all the time.
What's one piece of kit you could not live without?
My heavy duty resistance bands. Something I use in just about every session personally and with clients. They are light, versatile, easy to use and importantly as someone who travels a lot, it's the perfect piece of kit to help add a dynamic twist to workouts on the road.
What are your goals for the future?
I'd like to continue to work with people that push and inspire me to improve. Not only within the health and fitness industry but also on a personal level. It's important to surround yourself with positive people that encourage you to aspire to better and bigger things.
I think as I get a little older i'd like to take a step back from personal training and focus on catering specific services and products that help improve the quality of personal training services as a whole. In an industry that's constantly evolving, i'm really excited to see what the future of fitness holds.
Who inspires you and why?
My wife inspires me. She's the perfect combination of hard working and fun, fit and indulgent and she knows when to take life seriously and when not to. She'd also kick my ass in a race!
